Moving Forward Psychology Services is a psychology practice that offers treatment to adolescents, men and women, parents, senior people, and professionals, who may be experiencing a wide range of mental health issues including personal and professional challenges. As a psychologist, I also understand that at times a client may just need a safe and confidential environment to discuss an issue that is causing them some distress.
I hold registration with the Psychology Board of Australia and am committed to ongoing professional development to further my knowledge and skills. Regular upskilling ensures that I am able to provide a wide range of treatment approaches to meet the diverse needs of clients.
I use a variety of therapeutic approaches to provide practical skills to enhance people’s performance and well-being. These include evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), mindfulness-based approaches, EMDR, Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), and Circle of Security-Parenting (COS-P) facilitation.
Therapy, often referred to as counselling, provides the opportunity to explore your experience with someone who is not personally involved with you. It can assist you to gain more insight into your behaviours, those that are of benefit and those that may no longer be working for you.
Therapy is much more than supporting individuals with a diagnosed mental illness. There are many other areas where therapy may be of benefit to you, including: learning to communicate more effectively, managing anger, building or rebuilding confidence, making difficult life decisions, getting motivated, life transitions such as preparing for marriage, and learning to relax.
Clients can self-refer, there is no need to have a written referral from your doctor or psychiatrist.
For individuals, couples and groups we offer a variety of services and evidence-based therapeutic interventions, designed and tailored to suit the specifics of your individualised treatment needs. Working with parents and families is a passion, and I have achieved experience and understanding in managing a number of family-related issues. Whether its adjusting to an existing behavioural situation better, or simply looking to proactively understand your relationships with your child, spouse or extended family.
I am an accredited facilitator of the "Circle of Security Parenting" program. The COS-P can assist with the enhancement of parenting techniques, fostering a better understanding of the emotional needs a child may express through difficult behaviour. COS-P can also offer insight into how our own upbringing affects our parenting style .
With current recognition to managing mental health in the workplace, Moving Forward can develop focused training packages that will bring out the best in your team. Moving Forward can assist with guiding your staff through a range of organisational changes, with care and consideration. From Employee Assistance Programs, to workplace policies, critical incident support, and on-site training.
